Last Blog of 2024-25 School Year!

Weekend homework is Math pages 297-298 and Language page 264. Most of this work was completed in class. 

Wrapping up:

Health quiz on Monday and the final exam on Wednesday. 

History final exam is on Wednesday. 

Math and Language final exams will be on Tuesday. 

We have completed Spelling. :)

I will send home some extra credit opportunities on Monday that are due no later than Wednesday. 

Homework this week will just be to study. The biography book reports are due Wednesday. We should be able to finish those in class, but it is possible they will need to finish at home. 


I have enjoyed this school year with your children! They will always hold a special place in my heart! You are all terrific parents! Keep on giving them Jesus!

Over the weekend, the class needs to read to at least chapter 10 in their biography book. A few students have completed their books. 

If you have not sent back the permission slip for Monday's trip to Carnifex Ferry, please do not forget. We will leave at 9:30 Monday morning. 
***They will need a packed lunch.***

This week will be our last normal spelling list. It will be a combination of lists 31 and 32. We will skip the vocabulary and mark out several words for a total of 25 spelling words. 

There will be reading to do each night in History and Health in preparation for the final exams in our last week of school, so please help them to work on those stud skills! :)  

We will also be writing a book report on their biography books on Thursday and Friday. 

Important Dates:
Monday, May 12th is our trip to Carnifex and the playground.
Senior graduation is Friday, May 16th. 
Our final exams will be on Tuesday, May 20th and Wednesday, May 21st.
Thursday, May 22nd will be the end of the year celebration day here at school. 
Last day of school is Friday, May 23rd. I will give out awards and report cards that day.

We will begin standardized testing this week. Please do your very best to get a good night's sleep and have a good breakfast! 

Monday will be a normal day of school!

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be testing days. 

Although we will do some instruction in the afternoons, there will be no regular tests or quizzes this week and no homework. (Hallelujah!)

Please remember to sign the permission slip and send in the money for our trip to the theater on Friday.

We will have a pizza party on Friday at 11:00 for our Easter celebration. Send $3 and a drink. 

Please send a dozen plastic eggs filled with a treat by Friday morning. 

We will have an Easter egg hunt on Friday at 12:30. Students may leave afterward.

March 31-April 4

Please send in one package of PEEPS and a role of scotch tape on Monday and a couple of the following items: plastic bottles, pipe cleaners, egg cartons, or other small styrofoam and plastic scraps. 

Fundraiser calendars are due Monday. 

Normal Spelling schedule this week--List 25. 

There will be math homework on Thursday and Friday. 

Monday and Tuesday there will be reading, health, and history homework. 
Book Report books should be read by Wednesday. We will write book reports in class. 

There is a Health Test on Tuesday over chapters 1-3. I sent the study guide today. 

There is a History Quiz on Thursday over Chapter 15. The test will by on Monday the 7th over chapters 14 and 15. 


As we begin to wind down the year, please help your child to have multiplication facts memorized up to the 12 family. This is vital for success in 5th grade. There are supplemental exercises in the back of our math book for practice on the skills we are learning. I am happy to check those for them any time you feel like they need some practice in an area.

History Notebook: WEEKEND WORK- Complete pages 49, 63, and 65. This is a map page and an informational page about industry. Collect pictures of West Virginia industry, agriculture, natural resources, our city, major cities in our state, and educational institutions. Email me pictures if you need them to be printed. 

This week, we will complet pages 67, and 75-83. We spend at least 45 minutes in class working on this. Anything not finished in school is homework. 

(Remember, we skip pages 69 and 73 and)

This is Dr. Seuss Week! Below is a picture of theme days for the week (There is a better picture on the school website). Dressing up is optional. We will be reading even more than usual every single day here at school, and we will have reading to do at home each evening. Aside from History notebook pages and studying, this will be the only homework next week. 

We will be on Spelling List 21, skipping the challenge words. I will add 10 words in the place of the challenge words. We will NOT be doing this week's vocabulary list.

~We will have a book fair the week of March 17th. 

As we near the last nine-weeks, we are working on building independence and a love for learning. The students are figuring out subjects they like and dislike, as well as subjects they are good at and weak at. Help me to encourage them to do their very best and to honor God in all they do. Teaching them this above all will lead to lifelong rewards!
