Happy Friday!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!  

**There is no school on Monday.**

Remember most of the work for the Non-Traditional Learning assignment is due Tuesday. I will post it in a separate blog so you can refer to it, but it has been sent home on paper as well.    

Please note that the 3-paragraph West Virginia historical landmark essay will not be due until Wednesday the 17th.  I will include the requirements for it and the Science report below, but that has been sent home with the class already, so they should be ready.  

The WV essay can be typed if the student hands in their written notes or rough draft with it.  

I will post next week's homework schedule in a separate blog.  

There will be a trial spelling test Thursday and test Friday next week over list 16, even if we end up with more snow days.  :)  

I will assign and give them a book report book at the end of next week.  If they have a book at home that they have never read, is over 100 pages, and is fiction, they can use it; but please send it with them on Tuesday so I can have a look.

Animal Report Requirements:

On an 8x10 piece of paper:

2 Illustrations- One should be of your animal and one of a range map.

You do not have to free hand draw it, but it should be the student’s work. For example, you can print a picture and the student colors it. 

Oral Report:  A 2-minute speech written on a notecard not attached to the project itself. 

Describe the following: Habitat, eating habits, warm or cold-blooded, vertebrate or invertebrate, predator or prey, size.

Please be sure your illustrations are completed on an 8x10 paper; you may be creative and add text or other pictures.  Practice giving your 2-minute oral report.  The notecard will be collected, not graded for grammar, but on the facts listed above.

 

West Virginia Historical Landmark Essay Requirements:

On notebook paper the students need to write 3 paragraphs describing their chosen landmark. 

Paragraph 1:  Where is the landmark located? What does it look like? Describe the physical appearance of your landmark. 

Paragraph 2:  When was the landmark established or discovered and by whom?  Was this a natural landmark, or was it man-made? Was it difficult to reach or build? Is it a place people visit today easily, or is it abandoned? 

Paragraph 3:  What is the historical significance of your landmark? What period of history did it impact and how? 

Each paragraph should have at least 3 complete sentences on the topic required for that paragraph. 

Please write down any books or websites from which you find information.  Siting your sources is a requirement.
