Assignment Changes

 Science Quiz 10 is rescheduled for Friday. It will be over 6.1-6.3. 

There is no Spelling vocabulary on the Spelling Test this week. 

Here are some things to help them study for Friday's Language Test:  Also, use Thursday's graded quizzes to study.  

     1.  Contractions such as, you will = you'll, were not= weren't, are not = aren't, have not = haven't, and other common contractions. 

     2.  Practice correctly using "there", "their", and "they're", and "your" and "you're".  

     3.  Common nouns such as "girl", "boy", "school"... 

        Proper nouns such as, "New Life Christian Academy", "Bobby", "West Virginia"... 

        Abstract nouns such as, "time", "love", "legend"...

        Compound nouns such as, "New Life Christian Academy", "West Virginia", "Yellowstone                            National Park" "baseball"...  

  *** Notice that some can fall into more than one category.  

      4.  Punctuation and capitalization in quotations.  Example:  Mom said, "We will leave after lunch." 

                Notice the capital letter beginning the quote and the placement of the comma, quotations, and                    period. 

             Also periods in initials and after titles such as, "Dr."  or "D.L. Moody"

      5.  Remember poems and songs get quotations:  "Amazing Grace"

      6.  Books are underlined.  Little House on the Prairie

      7.  Be able to diagram the subject and verb in a sentence. I will be sure they have examples. 

      8.  Subject verb agreement.  For example, chose the correct verb:  She (has, have) completed her                 work.  The correct choice is "has".  

      They should be reading at least 4 nights per week in their book report books.
