Goals and This Week's Plan

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a nice break!

I am excited for what 2023 holds for the class.  Before we know it, they will be turning into 5th graders! I have a few specific goals for them over the next 2 months.  They are doing terrific so far in 4th grade, and I know they can reach just about any goal we set!

Math:  The main goal in math is to memorize the multiplication tables to 12 and begin memorizing the division tables.  The multiplicaton tables are extremely important going forward for them in math.

Language and Reading:  The main goal over the next 2 months is for them to be able to construct sentences with more than 5 words, and create paragraphs with at least 4 sentences containing a topic sentence, supporting details, and a concluding sentences. I would like for them to read each evening either in their assigned book report book, or something else enjoyable for them.  Reading and writing skills go hand and hand;  success in Language and top-notch reading skills in 4th grade are the foundation for future success in Language Arts.

Lastly, I will be working with them on developing independent study skills, especially in History and Science.  We began writing answers to the Comprehension Checks into their History and Science notebooks.  You have probably noticed the Chapter Check-up sections for homework.  These make a perfect study guide. I hope keeping this notebook with the ansers will continue to be a big help.  I make flashcard for each chapter, and the class enjoys playing games using them.  Your child could create some on their own.  Creating their own practice quizzes is another great study tool.  We want to build solid, independent study habits.

Thank you for reading all the above information.  The class has learned so much already this year, and I am excited to see even more progress!

God will bless your committment to their education!
